Oliver Herford knew what he was talking about. Stressdesign wants to show you that we know what we are talking about as well, so we’re practicing what we preach. In order to achieve our goals for 2015 (and beyond), we wanted a certain polish, so we have taken on a move of our office to a new location (More on that in another post.). Our new location merges nicely with our first prediction for 2015.

Stronger, Intelligent Collaborations
We’ve seen this with Accenture and Fjord, Captial One and Adaptive Path, already this year with Teehan Lax joining the Facebook team. All of these are about improving UX (User Experience), or extending the range of the company. Partnerships like this will be more valuable to organizations than takeovers or buyouts as design and designers influence a business from the inside, and not from the outside anymore.
Branding becomes a Language
Branding used to be measured and executed by standards, or guidelines. Often large, frequently printed tomes filled with specifications and diagrams of how to execute a brand identity program. 2015 will see an influx of design language into company procedures and culture. This is the next, natural evolution of what branding looks like from a digital-first perspective. Design language is more about providing a set of building blocks instead of restricting creativity with directions, guidelines, or standards. Think of it as working with white LegoC pieces, instead of forcing a square peg into a round hole. We’ve seen this already from Google with Material Design.
Hacking, Piracy, and Net Nonsense Carries On.
Sadly, 2015 is going to see an increase in much of the online nonsense that brought us the SONY hack, credit card breaches, and iCloud Photo exposures. Security analysts will offer solutions and advice nearly every day, but the reality is this: You’re on your own. Just like locking your car at the mall, or your door at night, each of us will have to be smarter about how we secure our systems, the complexity of the passwords we create, and the online services we use.
Good .com names still exist
During the 00’s a myth developed that all of the good .com domain names were taken. With the commercial web now well into its teenage years, .com domain names are becoming available again, as well as .biz and .co as new TLD options. You can still be seen, and easily remembered on the web.
This one is easy. We will see (at least) one new technology thing that everyone hails at the latest, greatest. In 2014 we saw drone everything, meanwhile Ello didn’t really catch fire. Is this year for wearables, 4K TVs, or smart cars?
