An Apple for Syracuse

After a couple of years of false starts and some on-again, off-again displays of progress, Apple will open a retail store in Pyramid owned Carousel Mall.

The first attempt at a store, or rumors first surface on the Apple website a in 2002 when a dot appeared on the map about 3 pixels south of Lake Ontario. Shortly after, it mysteriously, and quietly disappeared. Rumors of a Syracuse store surfaced again in May.

No one really believed it this time. But it’s true. The new Apple store opens on 06 November. The store follows Apple’s new retail model, which will allow the company to bring its retail experience to “new and exciting” markets, according to Steve Jobs. But enough about retail strategy, and rumors.

Stressdesign would like to send a neighborly welcome to our new Mac neighbors, and were glad to have purveyors of fine design goods in town. It’s good for Apple, it’s good for Syracuse.

No News is Good News

So, there hasn’t been much activity visible at stressdesign.com. Does that mean that we’ve been sitting on the beaches of Onondaga Lake since the snow melted? Hardly. For many reasons. We’ve been working on a number of major projects that have kept us from communicating with the outside world. Since you last heard from us, we’ve developed 3 websites, 4 identities, a handful of publications, and we’re working on a standards compliant redesign for our own website. The update for stressdesign.com is set to launch this fall, and we’ll also be able to show you everything we’ve been up to since our last report.

College of Law

Stressdesign is proud to announce the launch of a brand new web site for The College of Law at Syracuse University. We worked closely with the college to meet their goal of having a site that was technologically advanced, as well as responsible to the tradition of the college, and profession of law, according to Marc Stress, President of stressdesign. While the technology may be transparent to most users, some of the advances are present in the interface including user scalable text, and printable content pages. “These elements, while simple, give each user the ability to have content delivered to meet their needs…” says Stress.

College representatives Nicci Brown, Director of News and Media, and Ronald Denby director of IT Service for the college created a team for the successful completion of the site. “We sought after firms that had the capability to deliver exactly what we needed which is why we chose stressdesign for the interface design, and ICS for the site programming. “Mrs. Brown had seen work that stressdesign had done for other clients, and after an interview, we were hired.” says Stress.
