We’re starting a tradition at stressdesign: to observe —and announce via our AXNT™ e-mail tool— some of the less popular holidays and observances in the calendar year. April Fools day was one that we’d chosen to highlight this year. Our e-mail message went out to our regular database of more than 1,000 recipients. The message, was laid out in a combination backwards and wrong-reading text, as was the punch line, and we even purchased a backwards version of our URL www.ngisedsserts.com just to seal the deal. Facebook, meet stressdesign

FacebookHave you gotten a Facebook account yet? We have and we’re thinking it’s a pretty good thing. Facebook is unique amongst many of the social networking sites in that it allows business, organizations, and institutions to have their own page with in the site. LinkedIn is great for professional individuals, but there are no provisions for adding your company — we think this will change soon, by the way. There are other sites like Get Satisfaction that are only for business and services issues. Facebook has had the foresight to combine its great personal networking tools to include business.

Stress Wins Top Industry Honor

GD USA FlagMarc Stress, president and design director of Stressdesign, a Syracuse-based design firm specializing in communications for business and education clients, was selected for the January 2008 “People to Watch” issue of Graphic Design USA. Stress was among 43 design professionals across the country to receive a full-page profile in the industry-leading magazine.

Graphic Design USA, the news and ideas magazine for graphic design professionals, was established in 1963 and has an estimated monthly readership of over 100,000. In January of each year, Graphic Design USA magazine publishes the “People To Watch” feature. Those selected embody the spirit of the creative community. They are individuals who the publication has come to know and respect for a combination of talent, leadership, success, insight, business savvy, community service and newsworthiness.

2007 Design Awards

It is open to everyone in the community: advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporate, institutional and publishing inhouse departments, and more. It honors outstanding new work of all kinds from across the country and North America: print and collateral, advertising and sales promotion, packaging and point-of-purchase, internet and interactive design, broadcast and motion graphics, corporate identity and logos. The firm also received 3 other awards in the world-wide competition.

Medical Acoustics Brochure

Stressdesign recently completed and delivered a custom brochure for the medical device company, Medical Acoustics. The brochure helps the company introduce its breakthrough respiratory device, The Lung Flute®.
The Lung Flute® is cleared by the FDA for the collection of diagnostic sputum samples for multiple pulmonary disease states, such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, asthma, lung cancer and tuberculosis. Lung Flute® features include:

  1. Simple hand-held disposable device
  2. Low pressure operation
  3. 510(k) FDA clearance
  4. U.S. Patent No 6984214

Stressdesign delivered the brochure on time for a major trade show appearance where the company was scheduled to meet with prospective investors. The compelling piece for the uses custom illustrations which demonstrate the devices operation, and provides visuals to indicate its use of low-frequency sound energy.

Wider Sites

Take a look around the web, and you will notice there’s more to see. Almost weekly, at least one Fortune 500 company unveils a web redesign, and they’re all pushing site design standards to new widths. Less than 2 years ago, major sites like Microsoft, CNN, all fell with in the standard lowest common screen width of 800 pixels. Most sites, due to browser chrome issues were quite a bit smaller to allow for scroll bars and window borders and interface elements to be displayed. (more…)
